On February 20, Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and Litoral gave a donation to the Holy Dormition Svyatogorsk Lavra in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, which has been serving as a haven for refugees from the military violence in Ukraine. He also sent a letter to His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, reports the Information Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

In his letter Vladyka Amfilohije expressed his support for the entire Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

“We in Montenegro and in the whole Serbian Church are closely watching what’s happening in Ukraine, and we hope for a speedy end to the fratricidal war which has broken out in eastern Ukraine,” the letter notes. He also emphasized that believers from Ukrainian have many times spoken about the important role of the Svyatogorsk Lavra in helping refugees from eastern Ukraine.

“We also hope for a speedy healing of the bleeding wound of schism which was opened on the body of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by opponents of the unity of the Church of God,” Met. Amfilohije wrote.

Funny. I don't see the countries that caused the disaster in the Ukraine (ie USA and their west European poodles) helping any refugees. But then again that should come as no surprise. Everywhere there is blood flowing and chaos prevailing, you know the Western man's fingerprints are all over. I suppose there can never be too much freedom and democracy and human rights and all that stuff. Even if a few million people die in the process. Good to see Russia has recognised Donesk passports. One further step to reuniting all Russians with the Motherland.
