“Waltz for Anastasia,” written in honor of the martyred Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov, is a track on the new album Hartland Street Echoes by John Sokoloff, released on Orchard Avenue Records on June 27.

This beautiful piano composition is a worthy tribute to Orthodox Church’s beloved Royal Martyr.

The album is vailable on iTunes and Amazon.

In his homily, Met. Aristarchos noted that the installation of the monument to the last Russian tsar marks the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the persecution of the Russian Church, and the upcoming centenary of the slaughter of the royal family. He also spoke about how the 1917 revolution was a turning point in the history of the whole of Russia, changing not only its constitutional structure, but the mentality of the Russian people, who lost their Christian values.

The consecration was a long-awaited occasion for many residents of Ekaterinburg, a large number of believers gathering in the tiny church. The first stone of the church was laid in 2010 during Patriarch Kirill’s visit to Ekaterinburg, and the church design was approved by Met. Kirill in 2012. The first Divine Liturgy in the church was celebrated on August 29, 2015.

The draft of the five-domed church with a steepled bell tower is based on the architectural style of an ancient Russian church. The church will have three altars: in the name of the Transfiguration, the Royal Martyrs, and Sts. Symeon and Sava of Serbia, the patriarchs of the Nemanjić dynasty.

A brilliant work of art, only a mastermind can create! Arousing the blaze of emotions that leave you breathless; placing you right at the moment when it was born! Rozita

It was interesting to say the least, but I found the tune itself to be very morbid. Anastasia was a martyr and only the church hymns can truly do her justice and invoke the praise, awe and inspiration in the faithful that we should have when thinking of her martyrdom and the meaning of her death and the death of her family for the orthodox and the entire world.
