Photo: www.blagovest-info.ru On the threshold of the centenary of the martyrdom of the last Russian royal family, the Diocese of Ekaterinburg of the Russian Orthodox Church has launched a Telegram channel dedicated to Royal Martyr Nicholas II and his holy family. The channel will publish excerpts from the journals of the royal couple, the diocesan press service reports.
Telegram is a non-profit cloud-based instant messaging service launched in Russia in 2013.
The channel launched two days ago with the blessing of Metropolitan Kirill of Ekaterinburg and Verkhoturye as a project of the site Царская-семья.рф (royal-family).
The main topics of the Telegram channel are the projects “The Tsar’s Diary” and “The Tsarina’s Diary.” Diary entries from the time of the family’s captivity in Tobolsk and Ekaterinburg will be published chronologically every day. Thus, journal entries from February 14, 1918 were published on February 14.
The Tsarina’s entry for that day notes that the family was not allowed to go to church to celebrate the Meeting of the Lord the next day.
The site on the Royal Family was create in the last fall to present a true view of the holy Royal Family, through the presentation of each member, with excerpts from their speeches, diaries, and letters, “in contrast to the distorted information often spread in society.”
“100 years ago, unfortunately, there was no one to be found able to protect the Royal Family, to save it from brutal massacre, from destruction,” Met. Kirill said, speaking of the new site, “Today we have the opportunity to protect it from reproach and disregard, passing on to one another, to our children, relatives, friends, undistorted information about what the members of the Royal Family were like, and how the era of the rule of the last Russian tsar was.”
