Photo: foma.ru Work on the translation of the Short Orthodox Prayer Book into the Tajiki language was completed at the end of June, reports the site of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The book contains the majority of the morning and evening prayers, as well as prayers of preparation for Holy Communion, with a short commentary on preparing to receive the holy Body and Blood of Christ.
Tajiki is a dialect of the Persian language spoken in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The Russian Orthodox Church is represented in Tajikistan by His Grace Pitirim (Tvorogov) of Dushanbe and Tajikistan.
The translation was made within the framework of the Social Center for Helping Migrants of the Commission for Missions and Catechism of the Moscow Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Funds for the translation were collected by the missionary club in honor of St. John of San Shanghai and San Francisco at the Church of St. Euphrosynia the Grand Duchess of Moscow in Kotlovka, which equips mission-minded Orthodox to conduct dialogues with atheists and people of other faiths and sects.
The book will also be published with the support of the parish.
Excerpts from the catechism The Faith of the Saints by St. Nikolai Velimorovic, catechetical talks for converts from Islam, and short liturgical collections and missionary leaflets will also soon be translated into the languages of Central Asia.
