Exactly six months from the day of the tragedy, a chapel was consecrated in memory of the children who perished in the fire at the Winter Cherry shopping center in the Siberian city of Kemerovo.

The Chapel of the Joy and Consolation Icon of the Mother of God was erected in the nearby village of Treschevsky and was consecrated by His Grace Bishop Innocent of Mariinsk and Yurginsk, reports sibdepo.ru.

The Joy and Consolation Icon of the Mother of God is known to help in the most difficult situations, when there is a threat to human life and health.

The decision to build a chapel in the village of Treschevsky was made at the request of the parents of girls from the village who perished in the terrible fire. Six girls from the village were caught in the fire. The chapel was built entirely on donated funds.

The fire in the 4-story Winter Cherry mall occurred on Sunday, March 25, leaving 64 dead, including 41 children. The fire was mainly on the top floor where there are several movie theaters and children’s play areas.
