Photo: tatmitropolia.ru The Missionary Department of the Kazan Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church has opened a cultural-educational center named for the Holy Hierarch St. John (Maximovitch) of Shanghai and San Francisco, reports Information-Education Site of the Tatarstan Metropolita.
The center was opened with the assistance of the St. Felix of Burgundy Orthodox Christian Language Courses, as well as the Russian-Chinese Firebird center at the Chinese Patriarchal representation church, the Orthodox Christian Discussion Club of the Valaam representation Monastery in Moscow, and the English language courses at the Church of St. Catherine the Great, the representation church of the Orthodox Church in America in Moscow.
The organizers are currently recruiting a team from students, volunteers, and teachers of Russian and foreign languages.
The center plans to engage in missionary activities among migrants through its Russian language classes, international students by organizing excursions and tours, and all students and adults through its English-language Bible club and courses in foreign languages.
St. John is known as a beloved and wonderworking hierarch who selflessly served his flock all over the world: in Serbia, China France, Belgium, the Philippines, and America.
