During this troubling time of the coronavirus pandemic, the Serbian Church has continued and expanded upon its usual humanitarian endeavors.

The Serbian Orthodox Metropolis of Montenegro has donated valuable medical equipment to various hospitals throughout the country to help fight the coronavirus pandemic.

In particular, funds were donated for the purchase of seven monitors and syringe pumps for the hospitals in Cetinje and Nikšić, as well as for equipment for a clinical center in the capital city of Podgorica, reports the Metropolis’ website.

On April 3, Igor Mirović, President of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina in Serbia, announced that the Diocese of Bačka had donated more than $18,500 (2 million dinars) to financially assist health workers in Vojvodina, reports the site of the Serbian Church.

“Most likely, this will be transferred to those doctors with the lowest income,” said Mirović.

In late March, the Serbian Church reported that its charitable foundation had donated essential food items, including flour, oil, beans, sugar, pasta, salt, and much more, to 47 families with many kids from the Archdiocese of Belgrade-Karlovac, 15 families with many kids from other dioceses, 7 single-parent families, and more than 10 severely disadvantaged families and individuals.

In total, basic living supplies were provided for about 600 people with children.

The Church’s soup kitchen also provided enough food for 10 days to 1,700 people, and canned food was delivered to about 300 homeless individuals.

Medicines were also made available at pharmacies and the Church’s dispensary.
