Antiochian Archdiocese announces Orthodox Christian Elevator Speech Contest

The Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese Department of Missions and Evangelism has announced a contest, the winner of which will receive $100 worth of books from Conciliar Press, a publishing company of the archdiocese, reports the Archdiocese's website.

Contestants are invited to submit a summation of the Orthodox faith that could be recited in thirty seconds or less—about the time it takes to ride an elevator. The "Elevator Speech" Contest will close the acceptance of entries on June 20, 2011, and the winner will be announced at the 50th Biennial Convention of the Antiochian Archdiocese in July 2011.

The thirty-second description of the One Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Faith must be executable in normal conversational speech, a single paragraph of no more than three sentences recommended, to get the attention of someone who otherwise has no time. The term "elevator speech" is commonly used in the business world to describe a mini-representation of one's organization.
