Citizens pay tribute to killed RTS employees

Belgrade, April 23, 2012

Families, friends and work colleagues of the employees of Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) who were killed in the 1999 NATO bombing of Serbia laid wreaths and lit candles in Belgrade at 2.06 a.m. Monday to pay tribute to the victims.

On this date, exactly 13 years ago, NATO planes killed a total of 16 people when they hit the RTS building in Aberdareva Street with two powerful missiles.

The families, friends and work colleagues of the killed gathered to lit candles and lay flowers at the monument 'Zasto?' (Why?) in Aberdareva Street to honor the memory of them, the RTS said today.

In 2010, Dragoljub Milanovic, the RTS director at the time of the NATO bombing, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for not following the government's order to move the RTS employees and equipment out of the building in Aberdareva Street.
