Moscow, April 25, 2012

The Russian airplane Ilyushin II-76 carrying 30 tons of humanitarian aid arrived at the Nis airport on Tuesday evening. The Russian Ministry of Emergency situations sent Serbia the relief containing rescue equipment, electrical generating units, footwear, clothes, medical equipment and medicines, the Russian Ministry announced.

That is the second load of humanitarian aid, Russian news agency Itar-Tass noted, adding that the first airplane carrying 36.7 tons of blankets, electric plates, pumps and boats arrived in Nis on Monday.

The opening of the Serbian-Russian relief center is scheduled for Wednesday, the Russian ministry underlined.

On Wednesday, Serbian and Russian officials are also due to sign an agreement on the establishment of the joint humanitarian center in Nis for prompt reaction in the case of fire, flood, earthquake and other emergency situations, and an agreement that would determine the status of that centre.
