Electronic control to be discussed in the Russian Civic Chamber

Moscow, February 22, 2013

On February 25, 2013, hearings on the subject, "State of citizens refusing sources of electronic control and personal data processing" will take place in the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, reports the "SINFO" website.

The initiator and host of the round table is a member of the Civic chamber of the Russian Federation, the head of the Department of the Moscow Patriarchate for Relations between Church and Society, Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin.

Participants of the hearings are planning to discuss the preferences of Russian citizens and to take into account their opinion in the process of its formation.

The public reaction has especially worsened in connection with introduction in the Russian Federation of universal electronic cards and the planned introduction of a new identification document—a plastic card with a chip and with personal biometric information, among other things, recorded on it.

Representatives of legislative and executive government bodies, Civic chamber members, representatives of public organizations and traditional religions of Russia, scientists and civil rights activists will take part in the event.

It should be noted that the Bishops' Council of 2013 has recognized the necessity of providing alternative sources of control for those citizens who do not wish to take the universal electronic cards.
