Patronal feast celebrated at Vatopedi Monastery

Mt. Athos, April 10, 2013

The Vatopedi Monastery, famous not only on Holy Mount Athos but also outside it, has celebrated its Patronal feast of the Annunciation of the Mother of God. Metropolitan Paul of Glyfada has led the ceremonial services in the Monastery. Archimandrite Methodius, the Superior of the Hilandar Monastery, also prayed at the service, following the 800-year-old tradition which instructs that Abbots of these two Monasteries should mutually attend great feasts of their monasteries. The Monastery's guests from monastic brotherhoods of the Danilites, Thomasites and Gerasimites sang at the service.

Metropolitan Nicodemos of Cassandria served the Vespers service with Bishop Philaret of Lvov and Galicia concelebrating.

The civil governor of the Mount Athos, Aristos Kasmiroglou as well as Superiors of Xenofont and Pantocrator Monasteries, Archimandrites Alexios and Gabriel, were present at the Divine Liturgy, reports Agionoros.ru.
