A prayer service for peace in the Ukraine performed at Nakhimov Naval Academy

On March 2, at the Ukrainian Naval Academy of P.S. Nakhimov, Rector of the Church of Holy Righteous Admiral Theodore Ushakov Priest Igor Tyshkevich celebrated a prayer service for peace and prosperity in the country, reports the Sevastopol Deanery's website.

    

Academy officers and students prayed together with the priest for the increase of love in the hearts and souls of the people, and for the eradication of any malice and hatred. "On the day of the Forgiveness Sunday let everyone forget all offences and open his/her heart to the love of God," said Fr. Igor after the service. All those who attended the prayer service venerated the icons.

In connection with the medically certified impossibility of His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and All the Ukraine to execute his duties as primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, of which the Synod members were convinced after visiting His Beatitude in the hospital, the Synod made a decision to elect the Locum Tenens of the Metropolitanate of Kiev. In accordance with the statutes of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, by secret vote Metropolitan Onufry of Chernovtsy and Bukovina was elected Locum Tenens.
