It is with profound sadness that I hear of the death of our beloved His Eminence Metropolitan Philip Saliba. This was a man who epitomized humility and was most gracious in tending tending to his flock. As the son of an immigrant from the town of Arna, Syria, and a cousin of Father Michael, my father and mother began their lives in Portsmouth, Ohio, and it was my father who was one of the charter members of St. Georges Antiochan Orthodox Church in Canton, Ohio, where members of my family are still members, although I am now a member of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Richmond, Virginia.

I offer my heartfelt condolences to the family of Metropolitan Philip. May his memories be eternal.

Yours in the Faith,

David F. Saleeba, Jr.

May His Eminence Philip rest in the peace o Christ. He lived a live dedicated to Christ and his Church and accomplished much in his years as Metropolitan. He was an outstanding Orthodox Christian and a leading ecumenist in teaching Church understanding and harmony.
