Priest takes part in dog team race on Kamchatka

Esso (the Kamchatka territory), March 24, 2014

Priest Vladislav (Revenok), as in previous years, has taken part in the "Beringia" dog team race, which takes place on Kamchatka. But he had to withdraw due to sickness of the dogs.

This year the route was longer and more difficult. They did not enjoyed fair weather the whole the time: there were occasional frosts and snowstorms, so it was difficult for the priest as well as for the dogs, reports Pravoslavnaya Kamchatka ("Orthodox Kamchatka").

The dog named Rada was first to fall ill, and others followed it. The priest could have continued the race and tormented the animals, but he took compassion on the dogs and withdrew. Now the doggies are under treatment at home.

The parishioners of the Esso village church are pleased with the priest's return. They had performed reader’s services in the priest's absence, missed having Liturgy. The very first Liturgy gathered many worshippers, and most of them took the Communion.

After Divine Liturgy, Fr. Vladislav told the congregation about the race, the difficulties, and the reason why he had to withdraw from the race.
