Greek policemen to make a pilgrimage tour to Mt. Athos

With the blessing of Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople and Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens and All Greece a group of 30 officers from the “Z” unit of the Hellenic Police will make a pilgrimage trip to the Athonite Monasteries of Xenophontos, Xeropotamou, Vatopedi and Iveron between May 25-28, 2015, reports Sedmitza.ru.

The idea of the pilgrimage of Greek police officers to Holy Mount Athos belongs to chief of the Hellenic Police department in the Attica region, brigadier general Vasilis Zikos. It was met with enthusiasm by the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece. Especially the pilgrimage of policemen was supported by Archimandrite Spiridon (Katramados), Secretary of the Synodal Committee for Pilgrimages, reports the Romfea news agency.
