Opening of St. John’s House

July 3, 2015

On Thursday, July 2nd, Bishop George’s former residence was officially reopened as the “St. John of San Francisco House.” The new St. John’s House will function as a place for monks to go for quiet during the day, a reception area for guests and families of monastics, guest accommodations for visiting priests and hierarchs, and office space on the upper floor.

To celebrate the opening, all of the Hermitage brethren gathered at the house for a full moleben to St. John, served by Hieromonk Alexander (Frizzell). Afterwards the house was blessed with holy water and all present were anointed with holy oil from the saint’s relics. An open house was held afterwards for the community to tour the newly transformed building.
