Lecture on the Syrian Humanitarian Crisis

New York, September 2, 2015

In response to the incalculable suffering of Syrian Christians, the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate will be presenting an informative lecture on September 29 in New York. Archons, the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle, is a group of honorees by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, distinguished for their service to the Church, sworn to promote and defend the Orthodox faith as well as the fundamental rights of all mankind.

The world is aware of the suffering of the Syrian people and yet it offers little in the way of response. Their health and welfare are at stake, as well as their religious freedom, which are issues of great concern to the Archons.

In conjunction with the Antiochian Orthodox Archidiocese of North America, the Order of St. Ignatius of Antioch and the International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), the Archons of Regions 1, 2, and 3 have invited Mr. Samer Laham of Damascus, the Director of the Department of Philanthrophy of the Patriarchate of Antioch, to speak on the dire conditions of his people and our brethren in the Middle East in order to raise awareness of their plight.

This important and informative event will be on September 29 at the Museum of the City of New York at 1220 Fifth Avenue at 7:30. The free lecture will be preceded by cocktails at 6:30. All are welcome, and asked to RSVP to Christa Pourou at cpourou@goarch.org or 212-774-0418.
