Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia puts to shame those Russians who love to boast of their riches.

"If those people, who have big money, cared about not only the horsepower under their hood and the number of floors in their mansions, but for how people around them look at these things, perhaps the psychological atmosphere in our society would be better," the patriarch said on Friday at the 4th Christmas Parliamentary meetings at the Federation Council.

He stated that he had just returned from Switzerland and "no one demonstrates their wealth there."

"Some of our men go there and immediately buy a house, and think they need a Maybach or a Rolls Royce by their house, which makes their rich neighbors protest. These rich neighbors often report it, hwich initiates a criminal case against our people," the patriarch said.

Displaying wealth invites resentment and crime.

If you wish to be loved and respected by the people, spend your money in a way that shows forth your generosity, like educational programs, medical research, and so forth.
