Divine Liturgy to be celebrated at the Iveron Convent in Donetsk which suffered bombardment

The Convent of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God, situated near the Donetsk airport, has been continuously shelled by the Ukrainian army. It should be recalled that the convent was founded as dependency of the Holy Dormition’s Monastery of Sts. Basil and Nicholas in the Nikolskoye village (consisting of two communities: the community of monks in honor of St. Basil the Great, and the community of nuns - in honor of St. Nicholas) by ever-memorable elder Schema-Archimandrite Zosima (Sokur: 1944-2002).

With the blessing of His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Donetsk and Mariupol, on February 25 a festal service will be celebrated at the long-suffering Iveron Convent in the city of Donetsk in honor of its patronal feast.

The Divine Liturgy will be served and the Blessing of Waters will be performed, reports Donetsk.church.ua.

The service will begin at 8.00 AM.

Let us pray together to the Lord for the restoration of the desecrated holy convent of the Donetsk region, the message reads.

On Friday the Iveron Convent of Donetsk was shelled with incendiaries. A block house was burned down. One of the volunteer corps members who currently guards the church has reported that the convent is regularly shelled from the airport side. “Every day they fire at us, lay mines and other ammunition,” the self-defense forces representative related.
