Please join us in offering prayers of thanks for OCMC’s newest missionary candidate, Jennifer Rice. Jennifer is a veteran of OCMC Mission Teams that served in Guatemala and Albania. She is currently finishing her Master of Theological Studies at Holy Cross Orthodox Seminary, and she is a very gifted teacher and musician.

We are excited and blessed that Jennifer has answered her call to serve as a long-term missionary to Guatemala, where she will teach liturgical music and offer catechism whenever and wherever possible. She will be based out of Aguacate and will join Jesse Brandow and Fr. John and Pres. Sandy Chakos in their ongoing efforts to care for and teach the thousands of Mayan people that have embraced the Orthodox Faith.

Jennifer’s talents are greatly needed among the new Orthodox communities that have come into the Church across the country. The Mayans are a deeply spiritual and pious people who long to know more about, and live more fully, the teachings of the Church.

In an effort to minister to the Mayan people most effectively, Jennifer will be participating in a Spanish language immersion course. She has been to Guatemala several times and already has a handle on the language, so it is hoped that this training will quickly advance her proficiency.

Jennifer’s studies will wrap with the close of the spring semester. Between now and her deployment to Guatemala, she will be raising awareness and support for her missionary work. Please pray for Jennifer and prayerfully consider making a gift toward her ministry. Please also consider inviting Jennifer to your parish to share about Guatemala and her upcoming service by contacting the Mission Center by phone at 1-877-463-6784 ext. 121 or e-mailing missionaries@ocmc.org.
