A Muslim shopkeeper who expressed Easter greetings to Christians was murdered by a fellow Muslim, The Blaze reports.

Asad Shah, a Scottish Muslim shopkeeper died in the hospital from the injuries he sustained in the brutal attack.

Although Shah was a devout Muslim, he repeatedly attempted to extend goodwill toward Christians.

On the Thursday before Easter, Shaw posted to his Facebook account: “Good Friday and a very Happy Easter, especially to my beloved Christian nation... Let’s follow the real footstep of beloved holy Jesus Christ … and get the real success in both worlds.”

An eyewitness of the attack reported that the killer stomped Shah’s head into the ground, while the Daily Mail reported that Shaw was stabbed in the head.

“One was stamping on his head. There was a pool of blood on the ground. It was horrific,” the witness told the Daily Record.

Police are currently investigating the details of the murder and are viewing it as a religiously prejudiced case.

Many attended a vigil held for Shah and expressed their admiration for him and the life he lived.

“He was an amazing, wonderful man, he couldn’t do enough for you,” stated a woman who also said Shah employed her daughter in his shop. “He wouldn’t hurt anybody. Nobody in Shawlands would have a bad word to say about him. I can’t believe he’s gone.”

Shah’s customers also started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for his family. The campaign has thus far raised about $58,000.
