Doctors in the self-proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic will not performed any scheduled abortions on June 1 and June 2 in line with the "Days without Abortions" timed to the international day for protecting children.
"We are all of one mind that June 1 and 2 in our republic will be without abortions, that is, there will be no scheduled abortions on these days, only in case of medical emergencies: hemorrhaging, or the interruption of any vital functions," deputy chief doctor of the Lugansk Hospital Oleg Valiyev said.
According to him, such a decision was preceded by a meeting of the Council on obstetrics with experts in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, representatives of perinatal centers and antenatal clinics.
Earlier Oleg Valiyev stated that the number of abortions in Lugansk in 2009 decreased three times over, according to the Lugansk information center.
