A Muslim resident of Krasnodar Region, who happened to be in Krymsk when the flood started, has decided to get baptized, as was reported to RIA Novosti by the Rector of the St. Michael the Archangel Church, archpriest Sergey Karpetc.

“Although not a native to the place he was caught here by the disaster. We do not know the reasons that brought him here” Fr. Sergey said.

He explained that the man was not exactly on the flood affected territory, but he was able “to see the unity of Christians and then felt the desire to be baptized”.

Father Sergey pointed out that Baptism is a sacrament for which one should prepare himself. “After the overwhelming number of the priority things are finished, we will have a meeting with him where we will talk about the Orthodox Faith,” said the priest.

The Russian Orthodox Church has been helping the victims of the recent natural disaster in the south of Russia. Church workers have receieved around 780 tons of humanitarian aide, which they are distributing to the afflicted.
