Mount Athos. Procession with the Iveron Icon

Photogallery

One of the greatest sacred shrines of the Christian world is the miracle-working Iveron icon of the Mother of God, located in the Iverson Monastery on Mount Athos. Twice a year, on October 13/26 and on Bright Tuesday the monks make a solemn cross procession with this icon. We present to our readers a photo report on this even from Pravoslavie.ru author, Vladimir Orlov.

It was an inspiration to see these people guiding this beautiful icon through the landscape. Especially heartening was the way these serious-looking guys were obviously singing their hearts out.
