As is known and cherished by the Orthodox faithful, God often reveals His presence and grace through the holy icons that adorn Orthodox churches and homes.

An image of St. Nicholas recently appeared on the wall of the Church of St. Elias in Zapovitne, Ukraine, and another miracle connected with iconography is now being reported from Cherkasy in central Ukraine, where clergy of the Cathedral of St. Michael noticed that the altar fresco was self-renewing.

The clergy noticed the miraculous restoring of the icon of Christ during the All-Night Vigil on June 1, the website of the Cherkasy Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reports.

Since then, the faces of the saints have also been renewed.

“Note Christ’s blessing hand—a line running along the Savior’s red clothes near His hand,” Protodeacon Ioann Polischuk said. “Also, all the faces on the fresco have been renewed, without exception, especially the faces of Christ and Lazarus.”

The diocesan website also notes that this is not the first time the icons in St. Michael’s Cathedral have been miraculously renewed.
