More than 85,000 faithful venerate relics of St. Spyridon in Krasnodar

The right hand of the great St. Spyridon of Tremithus arrived in Krasnodar, Russia from the Greek island of Corfu on August 24, where it remained for the following week. During that time, more than 85,000 Orthodox faithful came to venerate the precious relics and entreat the intercessions of the holy hierarch, reports RIA-Novosti.

The reliquary was delivered to the St. Catherine Cathedral in Krasnodar, which will be the only place of the relics’ visitation in southern Russia. It would also be taken to Ekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Kemerovo, Tula, St. Petersburg, Tver, Saratov, Cheboksary, and Yaroslavl, and Moscow, remaining in Russia until October 15.

According to a representative of the Kuban Metropolitanate, there was a continual line of faithful waiting to venerate the relics of St. Spyridon during the Tuesday night Liturgy, stretching out onto the streets around St. Catherine’s Cathedral.

Cathedral clergy and visiting clergy celebrated molebens before the relics every hour during their stay in Krasnodar.

The bringing of the relics was organized by the charitable Foundation of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Vladimir that was established in 2015 and offers support for social initiatives and charitable and educational programs.
