On Tuesday, April 14, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine recorded a video message for the Ukrainian faithful in which he congratulated all with the beginning of Holy Week and spoke about how the Paschal service will be held in the churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

“The feast of Holy Pascha is unique for this year because of the viral disease that is spreading around the globe. Therefore, I inform you, dear brothers and sisters, that the Paschal services will be celebrated in our churches,” Met. Onuphry said.

He also expressed words of support for those who are ill: “I want to comfort those who will stay home because of sickness or some other reason: You will not be abandoned; you can watch the Paschal service on television.”

His Beatitude also instructed that “those faithful who come to the service will stand and pray on the street, observing all the necessary sanitary norms.”

“Wherever we all are on Pascha night, we will all be able to unite in prayer and glorify Christ the Lifegiver Who is Risen from the dead together,” the Ukrainian primate concluded.

The feast of the Resurrection of Christ will be broadcast on the Ukrainian station Inter beginning at 11:00 PM (4:00 PM Eastern) on Saturday.

Portions of the service from the Kiev Caves, Pochaev, and Svyatorgorsk Lavras and other monasteries and churches will also be shown on 112 Ukraine beginning at 11:00 PM (4:00 PM Eastern).
