Latvians called to sign petition to grant right to life from the moment of conception

Organizers of the "Pro-Life" campaign are calling residents of Latvia to sign in support of the European civil initiative "One of us" which provides for mandatory legal protection of life and dignity of a person from the moment of conception.

Within the scope of the "One of us" initiative, each Latvian citizen who has a right to vote can sign on to the project of protection of unborn children. The legislative anti-abortion initiative on the European level will be worked out on the basis of this appeal, according to Ves.lv.

In order to transmit the project to the European Commission it is necessary to the collect signatures of 1 million EU citizens who represent a minimum of seven countries. In Latvia, no less than 7000 signatures must be collected for promotion of the initiative.
