The Vatopedi Monastery to give considerable aid to those in need

Mt. Athos, February20, 2013

The Vatopedi Monastery on Mount Athos is planning to send fifty thousand euros monthly to the Archdiocese of Athens in support of the program of free food provision for those in need, according to Agionoros.ru.

At the same time, the Vatopedi Monastery will support similar initiatives in a whole set of dioceses of the Church of Greece: Veroia, Neapolis, Eleftheroupolis, Dimitriadis, Patras, Larisa and Florina.

It should be noted that there are free food points organized by the Orthodox Church in almost all of Greece’s big cities. In the capital of Greece alone, the city of Athens, there are 73 such kitchens, which are frequented daily by more than ten thousand people.
