Stavropol territory, August 12, 2013

On August 20, 2013, in the village of Ryzdvyany of the Stavropol territory, "The Caucasus--our common home" Orthodox and Muslim youth forum will start its work. Metropolitan Kirill of Stavropol and Nevinnomyssk, and Mufti of the Stavropol territory Muhammad Rahimov will take part in its opening, reports Patriarchia.ru.

The organizers and initiators of the forum are: the Youth department of the Diocese of Stavropol and the Stavropol Diocesan Orthodox youth movement, "The City of the Cross" with the support of the government of the Stavropol territory.

This year the forum will gather about 30 Orthodox and Muslim youths aged between 13 and 18. For 10 days the teenagers will be taking part in theme workshops and round tables. Excursions over Stavropol and its surroundings as well as sport competitions will be organized for the forum's participants.

The forum will be held for the sixth time. It was held for the first time at the spiritual-educational centre of the Ryzdvyany urban village in 2008. In the following years the forum took place in a picturesque corner of the Caucasus, Dombai, and in the health resort zone of the city of Nalchik (the capital of the republic of Kabardino Balkaria).

In 2011, a cooperation agreement was concluded between the Diocese of Stavropol and the Muslim Board of the Stavropol territory. The result of the agreement was the signing of the resolution on annually holding the Orthodox-Muslim youth forums in the Stavropol territory on continuing basis.

According to the organizers, these forums will bring children of different nationalities and confessions together, and they will likely become friends for many years to come.
