About one fifth of Russian Orthodox Christians pray every day

Moscow, April 25, 2014

12% of Russian residents pray daily—these are the results of the Russian national poll, carried out by the “Sreda” (“Environment”) service together with the “Obshchestvennoye mnenie” (“Public opinion”) foundation, reports Interfax-Religion.

According to the sociologists’ information, every fifth Russian resident age 60 and older prays every day. Of those who have serious problems with health, every fourth person prays daily.

It has also emerged that 22% of Orthodox Christian believers pray every day.

The survey organizers note that income and an education are not factors in frequency of prayer.

The poll was conducted in April with 1,500 people from 43 regions of Russia taking part in it.
