Vandals left insulting graffiti on a wall of a Kiev church

Kiev, October 2, 2015

An act of vandalism against the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord has been committed at the Obolon Deanery in Kiev. The church is situated near the Kiev city tuberculosis clinic, 68 Avtozavodskaya Street.

The culprits left insulting graffiti and stickers on one of the church walls. The graffiti included the following: “Down with the Moscow priests!”, and “Are you still going to the Russian church?”

The act of vandalism against the capital’s church was committed on October 1.

This is already not the first case of desecration of Orthodox churches in Kiev, the official website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate notes.

Earlier it was reported that representatives of extremist groups hostile to the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church had made a number of attempts to set the Church of the “Joy of All Who Sorrow” Icon of the Mother of God in the Kiev’s Babiy Yar on fire.
