A concert of the rock groups Belphegor (Austria) and Nile (USA), planned for April 23, was cancelled following protests by Orthodox believers.
"You can return your tickets to the ticket office. The concert is cancelled. Everyone who does not want to return their tickets can visit any event during the year," administration of the Arena Hall concert platform stated.
The concert was canceled at the the demand of the Krasnodar administration, received on the eve.
"Direct promotion of inferiority of those belonging to Christianity or Islam is seen in the songs of these groups, and on the contrary they proclaim the 'force,' 'strength,' and 'supremacy' of those who adhere to Satanism and oppose God and Allah. <...> We consider it impossible to hold this event," stated Viktor Kosenko, head of the Administration for Cooperation with Law Enforcement Agencies from the city administration.
The official also points out that municipal authorities received appeals from public religious organizations with demands to cancel the planned concert.
It was earlier reported that the Orthodox Union public organization coordinated a rally with city authorities against the tour Тhe Flaming Arts Festival with the bands Belphegor and Nile on April 23.
The initiator of the action, Roman Plyuta, told Interfax that the musicians voice insulting comments about Christ, the prophet Mohammed, Christians and Muslims.
Тhe Flaming Arts Festival tour was to be held in April in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Yekaterinburg and Krasnodar.
