Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church takes part in celebrations marking the 1070th anniversary of the holy repose of St. John of Rila

On 18 August 2016, the commemoration day of St. John of Rila, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church celebrated the 1070th anniversary of his holy repose.

On the feast day His Holiness Patriarch Neofit of Bulgaria officiated at the Divine Liturgy at the Monastery of St. John of Rila. Among those concelebrating with His Holiness were an assembly of hierarchs and clergymen of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and clerical representatives of other Local Orthodox Churches.

  

With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the Russian Orthodox Church was represented by Bishop Iakov of Naryan-Mar and Mezen.

After the Divine Liturgy, His Holiness Patriarch Neofit delivered a primatial homily, greeting all the worshippers with the commemoration day of St John of Rila, the website of the Representation of the Moscow Patriarchate in Sofia reports.
