The following morning, Archbishop Ionafan prayed during Divine Liturgy, which is celebrated daily by the clergymen of the Cathedral. On November 3, the namesday of Metropolitan Hilarion, Archbishop Ionafan will concelebrated with the ROCOR Primate at Divine Liturgy, after which he will fly to San Francisco, CA, where he will participate in the feast-day celebrations of the Cathedral of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow.”

It is with grief that I learned of the death of the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, His Eminence Metropolitan Laurus. In a telephone conversation with His Eminence Archbishop Mark of Berlin and Germany, we remembered the many years of labor of the venerable archpastor and the zealous servant of the Church of Christ.

The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church met in Moscow on October 6, 2010. In his keynote address, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia noted that this is the first time that a Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia participates in a regular session of this body.
