French Foreign Minister Juppe Meets with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew

November 19, 2011

Within his formal visit to Turkey, French Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Alain Juppe met with the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew last Thursday evening, November17.

The French official was followed by the Ambassador of France in Turkey and the conversation between the two men revolved mainly around the life conditions of Christian minorities in the Near and Middle East.

According to a later announcement of the Patriarchate, His Holiness Bartholomew informed the French Minister on the results of the Assembly of the Primate of the orthodox Churches and the Church of Cyprus, which had recently taken place in Fener.

The Ecumenical Patriarch had met with the French Minister before; the first time was in Paris in 2007, when Juppe was still Minister of Ecology, and the second one was last April in Paris again, when Juppe had taken office in the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
