Грех заключается не в том, что человек не постится, а в том, что им управляет его желудок и гортань. Грех в том, что человек служит не Христу, а своему чреву.

Великий Пост только начался, и святая Триодь пока еще немного перевернула страниц. Как раз время взять в руки уникальное святоотеческое творение и проверить себя на православность своего понимания смысла Четыредесятницы.

Нередко от православных христиан требуют осудить любое применение силы. В качестве аргументов используют библейские цитаты: «не убий», «взявший меч от меча и погибнет», «подставь правую щеку» и другие. А некоторые христиане порой впадают в противоположную крайность и заявляют, что насилие, если оно «во имя правды», вполне может быть делом богоугодным.

It is truly a kind of obligation to increase one’s almsdeeds during these days. For where do you expend what you deprive yourself of by abstinence more justly than in pity?

Great Lent is the time when, reflecting upon our inner life, testing our conscience, we must begin to heal ourselves, through the correction of our mind, through the training of our senses, and through the training of our will.

Сваке године само у Русији се извршава стотине хиљада абортуса. У неким случајевима чедоморство се врши у складу са саветима лекара, а у другим због притисака ближњих и породице саме труднице. Ипак, коначну одлуку увек доноси жена.

Поводом 170-годишњице од када је цар Николај потписао указ о оснивању у Светој земљи представништва Руске Православне Цркве одслужени су благодарење и парастос свима почившим старешинама, сабраћи и сестрама који су радили у Винограду Господњем у Руској духовној мисији.
